The short version: your financial data (transactions, accounts, categories, budgets, notes and receipt photos) is stored on your phone and is never sent to us. There is no account and no sign-up. The only thing the app sends us is a single anonymous message when it is first opened, containing the app name, package name and your country.
This policy covers the Android app Expense Manager Offline Diary (package expensemanageroffline.dailybudgetdiary.budgettrackerapp) and the website expensemanagerapp.com.
1. Data you enter in the app
Everything you enter, including amounts, categories, accounts, budgets, recurring entries, notes and receipt photos, is stored locally on your device. We do not operate any server that receives this data, and the app has no cloud sync.
Deleting the app, or clearing its storage, deletes this data from your phone.
2. Anonymous install count
So we know roughly how many people use the app and in which countries, the app sends one request the first time it is opened on a device. It contains only:
- the app name and package name, and
- your country, taken from your mobile network or, if that is unavailable, your phone's language settings.
It contains no advertising ID, device ID, name, email or any of your financial data. After one successful request it is never sent again. As with any internet request, the server that receives it (hosted on Cloudflare) can see the IP address the request came from.
3. Android device backup
If you have turned on Google backup for your phone, Android may include this app's data in your device backup, so that it can be restored on a new phone. That backup is stored in your Google account under Google's own privacy terms. We cannot access it. You can turn device backup off in your phone's settings.
4. Exports and backups you create
When you export a CSV file or create a JSON backup, the file is saved wherever you choose, for example your phone's storage or a cloud drive you pick. We never receive these files.
5. Permissions
- Notifications: only for the optional daily reminder, if you turn it on.
- Biometrics: only for the optional app lock. Your fingerprint or face data is handled by Android and never seen by the app.
- Camera and photos: only when you choose to attach a receipt photo.
- Internet: used only for the anonymous install count described above.
6. Advertising
The app does not currently show ads. If we add ads in the future, we will update this policy first to explain which data the ad provider collects.
7. This website
expensemanagerapp.com uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how visitors use the site: which pages are viewed, roughly where visitors come from, what kind of device and browser they use, and whether they click the Google Play button. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects an online identifier and your IP address to do this. It is operated by Google under Google's privacy policy, and you can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser.
The website does not ask you for any personal information. It loads fonts from Google Fonts. Your theme choice (light or dark) is saved only in your own browser. Website analytics are separate from the app: nothing you enter in the app is ever connected to them.
8. Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the "last updated" date above.
